80x60 cm ~ 미술작품, 기름
At the edge of Christchurch Town Quay in Hampshire stands a tree whose age speaks through every knot, groove, and twist of its trunk. In real life, its roots are hidden beneath concrete — covered for practicality, restrained by time. But in this painting, I chose to let the roots speak.
I reimagined them as living sculpture, boldly rising and coiling with presence and strength, as if reaching into the river's memory. The tree, towering and observant, becomes a silent witness to life by the quay — to fishermen, to passing boats, and to the quiet swans gliding downstream.
Soft light touches the water’s surface, mist hovers in the background, and the entire scene carries the weight of reflection and quiet strength. Where the Old Tree Watches is not just a painting of a place, but of a feeling — one where time, nature, and imagination come together.
